Next Week on the Gold Coast!

Join us tonight for a big night of dancing at the Broadbeach Senior Citizens Hall on TE Peters Drive. A great way to prepare for the long weekend!

Sven & Jenny will greet you with their friendly smiles at the door as you head through for the Beginner Class with Kent & Emma. At 9:00pm, Holly will join Kent on stage to challenge those in the Intermediate Class. Beginners will participate in the Recap Class with Emma & Sven and for those in the Intro-mediate Class, join Rob & Jenny who will teach you something to assist your freestyling capacity and prepare you for the inevitable move up to the next class in the future.

All of that tonight!

As for next week, Tuesdays are growing and numbers are good! Again we need more GIRLS so for your mid week fix, grab your shoes and join us at the Parkwood/Arundel Community Center on Napper Road. Emma will be teaching the Beginners Class so girls, this is a great chance to hear about some tips for you. The Intermediate Class on Tuesday will be taken by Emma & Kent so if you're keen to pick up some of their stylish moves, see you there on Tuesday.

It's come around quickly but NEXT FRIDAY (5th May) is the ADVANCED CLASS. The Beginner Class will be on as usual with Holly joining Kent.

At 9:00pm next Firday night, Allan & Holly will set up a sequence of moves to "wow" you and your friends! These will be ADVANCED moves and you will be learning them from two of the best dancers in Australia! These guys were finalists in the Melbourne Competition on the weekend in the Masters division (the highest division} so come along and be taught by the best!

Melbourne Comp Report

Last weekend a group from Le Step flew down to Melbourne for the Victorian Modern Jive Dance Championships. We were by far the loudest cheer squad and left our mark on the Victorians with such positivity we hope to see many of them up here in September for the Queensland Competition!

Not only did we leave our mark on them with our cheering - but we also took home some trophies.

Well done to our very own Katrina O who took out FIRST PLACE in the Intermediate Dance With a Stranger Division (DWAS). In this division (DWAS), a dancer enters on their own and meets their various dance partners on the floor with no preparation. Congrats Kat, you did us all proud.

Emma Robson & Rob Want regular teachers here on the coast, got to the SEMI FINALS in the Advanced Division and {Rob} also got through to the FINALS in the Advanced DWAS division. Great job.

Mick French (Brisbane) the principal director of Le Step also made it through to the FINAL in the Masters DWAS division along with Jade Neave. Sharon & Andrew (Brisbane) danced well in the Advanced division with Sharon also getting through to the FINALS in DWAS.

Allan & Holly were a huge success, getting through to the FINALS in the Masters Division. This now ranks them among the top 6 dancers partnerships in Australia. Just think, you really are learning from the best. Holly also got through to the FINALS in Masters DWAS. You go girl!

In the teams division, Le Step took out SECOND PLACE with the Infernal Routine. This was a combined, Brisbane and Gold Coast routine so well done to all 6 couples: Mick & Jade (Brisbane), Sharon & Andrew (Brisbane), Julia & Jack (Brisbane), Kent & Kat (Coasties), Em & Dan (Coasties) and Em & Rob (Coasties).

NOTE: The next interstate competition is the Ceroc & Modern Jive International Dance Championships on Saturday, 10th June 2006 in Sydney. Brochures & info available at class.

Brisbane Competition - Septemeber 2006

The Le Step Queensland Modern Jive Championships will be held on:

Satuday, 2nd September 2006

If you're keen to be a part of this competition, have a chat to the crew & teachers at your local venue. We will be runing some workshops closer to date on 'presenting your moves' and 'style'. The emphasis on competition dancing is for your individual improvement as a dancer and for FUN. This is a great excuse to practice up and be a part of something that brings out a whole team attitude.

If you're keen to enter, start scoping for a dance partner now. If you don't have a dance partner, there's always the Dance With a Stranger division (DWAS) that everyone can go in.

Put the date in your diary coz even if you don't want to compete, come along and cheer for those Coasties who do. Our aim is to have a big team participation.

Chat to us at class - the more the merrier!
