Le Step on the Coast will be offering a beginner workshop on Saturday, 31st May - to be followed by a dance party at HQ! Information as follows:
This workshop will be taken by Rob Want, recent finalist in the Masters Division (the highest level) at the Victorian Championships. The aim of the beginners' workshop is to get you out there on the floor enjoying freestyle as soon as possible - after all, that's what it's all about! You will learn a number of base moves (moves which can be varied later on) in more detail than our regular classes allow. The basic techniques you'll learn from these base moves can then be applied to the many variations you'll encounter in our Intermediate / Advanced classes.
Beginner workshops do not require your own partner but you do need to book.

Next Gold Coast Routine
Did you learn the last Coasties routine?
Do you want to learn a routine (or another routine)?
Do you want to increase your ability to link moves together?
Do you want to improve your styling?
If you answered 'yes' to any of those questions then make sure you sign up for the next Gold Coast Routine and NO - we're not doing the Superstar routine! After much discussion and deliberation it was decided that something new and fun would be more exciting.
Emma, Al and Kent have choreographed another fun routine jam packed with great moves for all dancers. You will need a partner for the routine so start finding one now. The routine starts in June and will be taught at Dance HQ on Sunday afternoons in 6 x 2 hour sessions. For those who are learning the routine, a DVD will be available for purchase to assist in learning and maintaining the routine. Traditionally, these will be ready by week 5 of the routine.
The routine will be ready in time to perform at the Soiree (see below) so for those interested in showing off what they've learnt, that's the ultimate goal.
Brochures are available at class now! The "James Dean Routine" will be a little more challenging than the last one but with a massive emphasis on having fun and dancing with musicality and style.
Ceroc & Modern Jive Championship Event in Sydney!
We've got a group of 16 Coasties heading down for the CMB Sydney dance comp and at least 10 Brisbanites that we can think of attending too. The champs will be held on Saturday, 7th June and you'll see some our dancers practicing for the comp at classes over the next 2 weeks.
Make sure you wish them all good luck! This is a very exciting time for them and some will be entering their first competition.
If you like the idea of competing, keep in mind that Queenslands big comp is in September this year. Have a chat to some of our experienced dancers if this appeals to you and they can give you some guidance.
Comp report will follow after the event.
The Gold Coast's Scintillating Soiree is back!
The Soiree held last year for the first time is back and will be bigger and better than the first. We had some very positive feedback from our initial event and have taken on board some of the suggestions for this years event in an attempt to provide you with an even BETTER night out.
This event will include dance performances, 1.5 hours of succulent nibbles, 3 hours of beer, wine, champagne, juice and soft drink in the gorgeous environment of the Hyatt Regency in Sanctuary Cove.
A "cocktail event" bringing out the glam and glitz of all our dancers. As this is a Soiree, tickets are limited and it's strictly first in first served. Tickets will be sold from 30 June - 25 July with the early bird rate of $89 for tickets purchased prior to 14 July 2008. All tickets purchased after this date will be at $95.
Pick up a brochure at class and have a chat to the crew for more information.
