VENUE REPORT
Monday nights @ COOLANGATTA
TONIGHT
Monday, 13th October it's "BRING A FRIEND" night.
If you bring 1 friend, they get in for half price and you also get in for half price. If you bring 2 friends, the both get in for half price and you get in for FREE! (Friends must be first timers.)
Our Monday night format is Beginner Class, Freestyle, Intro-Mediate Class followed by more Freestyle! If you're keen to start progressing to the next level but you're worried about the degree of difficulty, come and try a Monday night class at Cooly. Our second class at this venue is like a "bridging" class to help you take the next step up from beginners.
Emma, Allan and Kent are there every Monday night so you have some of Australia's best dancers in the one venue - and they're there to teach you and dance with you.

Tuesday nights @ ARUNDEL
See you Tuesday at Arundel for Allan's night!
He is joined on Tuesday nights by a great crew who help support the newer dancers and share themselves around with the more experienced dancers too. Plenty of learning to be done and much fun to be had on Tuesday at Arundel.
NEWSFLASH: the Intro-Mediate Classes have started and will be offered evert Tuesday night at 9pm. This means something for everyone with 3 classes to choose from based on your level of dancing

Wednesday nights @ SOUTHPORT
We saw over 60 people at last Wednesday night's class! That's awesome numbers and we hear that people are having fun in this buzzing dance atmosphere. This makes Wednesdays at HQ the next biggest class after Friday nights where the number saverage around the 80 - 100 mark!
Emma is one Australia's best female teachers and likes her students to enjoy the dance. The Wednesday night crew are known for their friendly approach and sitting down for too long is not an option - it's all about dance!
Join Emma and the crew at Southport for your mid-week dance fix!
NEWSFLASH: the Intro-Mediate Class is now being offered at HQ as well, so at 9pm, there will be 3 classes to choose from based on your level of dancing - this was a huge success last week.

Friday nights @ BROADBEACH with extended freestyle!!
Broadbeach is the place to dance on Friday nights! This is the Coast's biggest dance night of the week and Kent takes a great class with clear tuition and a relaxed style that has everyone having a laugh and enjoying a challenge.
There's something for everyone on Friday nights with 3 classes to choose from at 9pm. Because of it's popularity, there's heaps of good dancers to dance with and for those who simply want to freestyle for a lot longer, we've got extended dance time until 11pm!
Join everyone down at the Casino from 11:30pm for coffee and cake or drinks and dinner! Great social night out of dancing and socialising.

Broadbeach Mall Party Report
After a little break due to so many other functions, the Broadbeach Mall Dance Party was be held on Saturday, 4th October!
The weather held out for us and it was a great night dancing under the stars! Approximately 200 people attended through the course of the night and it was great to see some of the familiar faces from the past join us too.
We ate copious amounts of pizza before hand and had good numbers in the free introductory class taken by Allan.
The next BB Mall Party is scheduled for Saturday, 6th December so mark it in your diary now!

This fun and friendly night will be tonight Monday, 13th October so you have time to let your friends and friends of friends know about it.
"BRING A FRIEND" night.
Encourage people you know to give dancing a go. Whether it's for fun, fitness or just to socialise - dancing is a great life skill and can be used in many different circumstances. Weddings, parties, clubs, pubs....all ages over 13 are welcome and our focus is on getting people comfortable with moves and grooves on the dance floor.

Beginner Workshop with Em & Kent
The aim of the beginners' workshop is to get you out there on the floor enjoying freestyle as soon as possible - after all, that's what it's all about!

You will learn a number of base moves (moves which can be varied later on) in more detail than our regular classes allow. The basic techniques you'll learn from these base moves can then be applied to the many variations you'll encounter in our Intermediate / Advanced classes.
Beginner workshops do not require your own partner but you do need to book.
Technique covered will include:
- Rhythm and Timing
- Handholds and Leads from the Man
- Spinning Technique
- Footwork
- Freestyling
- Basic Dips and Drops; and
- Developing Your Own Style
Intermediate/Advanced Workshop with Al & Holly
This workshop will focus on the intricate details that enhance lead and follow techniques and allow you to execute moves with smooth and clear connection!

While you will use intermediate/advanced moves in the workshop you will be focussing on upper level fundamentals as opposed to new moves. This workshop is targeting dancers who ant to focus on connection, partner awareness, musicality, styling within the move and performance motivation. To run the workshop the we require a minimum of 10 couples so make sure you book or the workshop will not go ahead.
THIS WORKSHOP IS NON-ROTATIONAL SO YOU NEED TO BYO PARTNER

Dance Party - suprise guests coming!

It will be held at Dance HQ in Southport (4/10 Pinter Drive) and will be more fun than usual with some guests from afar joining us for the evening.
Ladies, this means a treat for you with the chance to dance with some superb leads and quality moves.
We'll keep it a suprise for now but there will be a few events through out the night to keep you entertained!
This will be the last dance party at HQ for 2008 so join us for a night of frivolity and fun with loads of quality dancing to be done.
PS: If you participate in the workshops earlier in the day, you're entry to the dance party will be discounted appropriately. Make a full day of it - dance for fun and hang out with some awesome people.
ZOOKEEPERS - PLAYING THIS THURSDAY NIGHT
Some of you may know that one of our local dancers, Megan Barnes, plays in a band - ZOOKEEPERS.
They will be playing this Thursday night at Sharks in Southport and there's a group of at least 10+ going along to support them. This is just a social night and an opportunity to get just a little more dancing in (coz you can never get enough....)
Please feel free to join us at Sharks! Most of us will be there from 8:30pm. Sharks serve good food so if you want to go earlier and have a meal, by all means....be warned though - it's extremely busy until 8pm due to the members draw.
