Beginner Workshop - only 3 weeks away
Tips to help with those 2 left feet!!
Beginner Workshops are designed to assist you by adding technique to the base level moves you learn in class which will allow you to make your moves ‘user-friendly’ and enjoyable to do with anyone you ask to dance. We concentrate on:-
- Rhythm and Timing
- Hand Holds
- Lead & Follow Techniques
The Beginner Workshop is not about learning lots of moves but about learning the technique on how to do all moves well. We highly recommend this workshop as an interactive way to become comfortable on the dance floor. It’s not just “practice makes perfect”….it’s practice with attention to detail, that makes perfect!
Bookings and payment can be made at class or by calling the office on 5591 9170. No partner is required to participate so just sign yourself up and see how to simplify what you learn but focusing on these essential dance tips.
Booking sheets are at class now.
Beginner Routine coming in Feb!
A snippet of the routine will be displayed at classes in the first week of February so beginners - keep an eye out for Laura and Isaac who will perform for you. If you've never done a routine before....consider this!
One of the best ways to improve your dancing is to participate in learning a whole choreographed routine and we have something specially for our newer dancers.
The Shook Me Routine was originally choreographed by Allan, Emma and Kent and did well at competition in 2008. We've decided to give the newcomers to the world of Modern Jive an opportunity to learn this routine and it will see you upping your repetoire of moves and freestyle will become a pleasure not a fear. Even if you've been dancing for a little while but have never learnt a routine before....we encourage you to sign up for this one. It will add a whole new dimension to your dancing no matter what experience you've had.
Get in early and find a partner. Bookings for the routine will need to be in by Friday 5 February and we'll need a minimum of 10 couples for the routine to proceed. Booking sheets are at the front desk so chat to our door staff about putting your name down.
Advanced Routine coming in Feb!
Get Involved - yes, please do get involved but that's also the name of the song! A routine "snippet" was made each night last week and has generated plenty of interest.
It is an ADVANCED routine so if you're new to the intermediate level or have not done a routine before, this is perhaps not the one you should sign up for. However, if you're looking for a good challenge, what you will learn in this routine will benefit your dancing regardless of whether you intend to perform it with the competition team or not. For some of you who are on the fence, chat to your dance teachers and consider giving it a go for the experience.
