Football isn't a contact sport; it's a collision sport.
Dancing is a contact sport.

For those of you who won't be joining us on Wednesday night - "Go the Maroons!"
Those who were able to attend the Dance Party on Saturday had a good night. It was a relatively small group but the floor was busy all night and we had plenty of room to dance.
In a bid to always bring you something a bit different, our next Brisbane Routine that starts on the first Sunday of July, will be co-choreographed by myself (Mick) and a very talented female dancer, Louise Capps, from Sydney! Louise will also be teaching Friday night's Intermediate class. See below for more info.
Guest Teachers - Friday Night
On Friday night we will have 'Louise Capps', an awesome guest teacher running the Intermediate Class.
Louise will be in Bris Vegas to co-choreograph the new Intermediate Advanced routine that starts the following weekend. It's going to be a massive weekend of 'speed choreography' but Louise is an extremely talented and experienced dancer so we're confident we can do it!
When Louise lived in Melbourne, her then dance partner Adrian and her dominated the highest levels of the competition scene for quite a number of years until Louise moved to Sydney. Some of you might remember Louise and Adrian taught at our Dance Camps a few years ago.
Also on Friday night, we are excited to have Lee and Helen teaching the Beginner Class whilst Louise and I are working on the I/A routine choreography.
Lee and Helen are fantastic dancers and just placed third in the Advanced Freestyle section of the Sydney competition. Once Louise and I have completed the choreo for the Akon routine, Helen will be madly learning the choreo in time to teach it with me the following Sunday afternoon.
Get along early this Friday night to enjoy a class with Lee and Helen!
New Look - Friday Night Venue
Yep - it's finally happened!
I visited the Weller's Hill Bowls Club on Sunday just to check the status of things and they had already gyprocked all the walls in the dance area.
The painting was scheduled to start today (Tuesday), so everything should be done by this Friday night.
Come and check out the new look venue this Friday and get the bonus of the guest teachers.
State of Origin Night - Class ON
This Wednesday is Sate of Origin again but our class will be on at West End.
For the last game we still had over 60 people there and those who were there said they had a great night with heaps of room on the dance floor.
If you are into the Origin and will miss Wednesday night, we hope to see you Friday night for the guest teachers and new-look venue!
Thanks to all the crew - including some new crew members - at Chermside. Tuesdays at Chermside have been getting good numbers and developing a great atmosphere.
We had a crew meeting there last week to discuss how we can build on the great things that are already happening there. I must way that it was a really positive discussion with some really enthusiastic people.
During the discussion we spoke about the fact that it is a great venue for newer dancers who want to really develop their dance ability. There is a separate room in which the small 'recap' classes are held, so this makes it easy to hear what's going on and get more individualized attention. And, for those of you who want a bit of variety of teachers, you always get that at Chermside with Kellie, Julia, Damian and Robbie and the most regular teachers there.
So, if you have not tried a Chermside class yet, I'd encourage you to do so.
AKON - Brisbane Routine - Guest Co-Choreographer from Sydney
Starts in two weeks so get a partner now or miss out!
Our new Intermediate/Advanced routine will start on Sunday 5th July.
Check here for the calendar of events which lists the dates for the Akon routine.
In a bid to bring you something totally new and inspiring, we are flying in one of the Sydney dancers to co-choreograph our next routine.
We have awesome dancers here in Queensland but I thought it might be interesting to bring in some cross-fertilization of ideas from interstate.
Louise Capps is one of Australia's most recognized Modern Jive dancers and has a swag of medals for her achievements.

The lyrics are 'So damn beautiful...'.
The video edit (3:55min) is worth looking at but we have used the 5min audio version and cut it back to about 3:30min.
After months and months of work, our Le Step curriculum has been revamped with lots of stuff to assist our newer dancers and crew.
Based on feedback from our teachers, crew and students, we have simplified lots of things to assist our newer dancers, added some skill based 'drills', changed some of the moves and generally tweaked our current system to make it even better for you!
The Beginner classes contain lots of the regular base moves but also have a few additions and variations to keep you on your toes.
The Bridging classes contain less moves and a lot more solid technique.
It all starts on 1st July!
Thanks to all the crew for their support with the training we've been having for the new curriculum.
Enjoy the dancefloor!
