News 18th February 2011

What's happening at class...
FRIDAY REPORT
Friday's at Weller's Hill are slowly building again and we've just done a huge leaflet drop in the local area to boost numbers.
So, come make some new friends at Weller's Hill each Friday night. Venue details.

REDCLIFFE CLASSES
Congratulations again to Damian and Eliza Purcell who are starting classes in Redcliffe tonight.
Free opening night tonight (Friday 18th February). Venue details.

Does your business need Flux?
Ever wondered how we put the Le Step newsletter and web site together?
I'm guessing not - unless of course you have to do that for your own business, or the place you work.

Anyway, we use a program called 'Flux' which is a CMS (Content Management System) that was designed by the husband (Joel) of one of our regular dancers (Kate) who also works on the program with the rest of the 2am team.

Flux can do lots of tricky things that make life easy and 'Flux 3' is just about to be released.

So, if you need a web site for your business or know someone else who does please call Kate on 07 3324 9333.

Flux Facebook Page is here.
This is the Flux website.
And this is the 2am Business web site

Boys - where are you?
Girls - round up some male friends for our classes.

Usually our classes are pretty close to equal ratio of boys:girls and sometime we even get more boys.
But recently we seem to have not had the usual beginning of the year influx of new guys.
So, pass the word - all of our venues have stack of nice girls there and we need more guys to keep them on the dance floor.

Mondays - parking arrangements
A reminder that some of you might like to park in Yuletide St and walk through the school to get to the hall on Crown St.
Guys, parking in Yuletide St will certainly help out as some of the girls would prefer not to have to walk through the school groups when leaving the venue.

Friday - Weller's Hill parking arrangements
A reminder on Friday nights to please park facing the club so that your car lights do not disturb the neighbours when you are leaving the car park.
Keeping the lights and noise to a minimum in the car park helps keep our classes at such a great venue. ;-)

Dance all you want for $18 per week.
Now that we're well into the new year this might be something you are interested in....

We've had more and more people take up this option for paying for class.
If you'd like more information about our offer of $18 per week for unlimited regular weekly classes please ask our door staff.

This offer is for those who like the idea of cheaper classes combined with the convenience of a continual direct debit payment system. There are a few set-up things for us to take care of with the third party provider, so to get things happening for you it's a minimum 12 weeks contract which, subject to some basic conditions, you can then stop at any time.

So, if this plan works for you please ask our door staff for more information.

Mentor Routine - Starts Sunday 27th Feb
Calling all Intermediate and Advanced dancers to act as mentors
for our newer dancers.

Note:
We are looking for more
MALE
Mentors and Mentees.

Mentor Routine
For the Mentor Routine we match up some of our newer dancers with some of our more experienced dancers.
Julia and I love teaching the Mentor routine each year. It's where we see new dancers really develop their skills.

It's a great way to get to know the better dancers and well as improve your dancing by dancing with someone who already knows what they are doing.

New dancers and experienced dancers, it's now time to start asking around at class to see if you can find your own partner (to mentor or to be mentored by).
If you are having any difficulty finding a partner please speak with our friendly door staff and they will try help you find someone to partner.

Even if you have already recorded your name, please email me now if you need a partner and do not have one yet: dance@lestep.com.au.

Julia Fifoot
It starts 27th February and costs $130pp for the six one hour sessions. Mentors are 1/2 price or FREE if they are already enrolled in the Intermediate / Advanced Routine.

Full dates and times are on our Calendar Page. More info (including pricing and discount for mentors) is on our Coming Routines page.

If you want a partner and have not found one yourself we can help. Please chat with our friendly door staff at your most regular venue.

Advanced Routine - Step up for a challenge.
BGN
At the beginning of each year we like to provide our Intermediate / Advanced dancers with something a bit new and different.
So, with that in mind, Helen and I have chosen a slower song but one with plenty of hits in it.
The music is 'Big Girl Now' (the version that features Lady Ga Ga) and is basically about a girl who's all grown up and not the 'kid from the block' anymore. We'll play it at class for you and as we get closer the start date we'll give you a sneak preview.

Our focus will be on modern styling and body movement coupled with musical interpretation. And so far, we're excited about what we've come up with choreographically. This routine will also build your confidence with lots of intermediate moves and a bit of basic body isolation that will be achievable for everyone. Come learn something a bit different.

Helen Luery

For those of you who wish to perform the routine, it will be ready to perform at the annual Brisbane Le Step Ball. (Date and venue TBC)

A reminder that you'll need your own partner. Find your partner now or let us know you are looking and we'll try help you out.
$130pp Starts Sunday 27th Feb. Full dates and times are on our Calendar Page
